Lisa’s Bio

Hello! My name is Lisa Stanbury, and I’m a manual driving instructor based in Plymouth, where I was also born and raised. I’ve been married to my husband Dean for over 35 years, he’s also a driving instructor and offers automatic lessons.

With 30 years of experience as a driving instructor, I’m passionate about not just teaching people how to drive but helping them build the skills and awareness needed to become safe and confident drivers for life. I pride myself on being patient and supportive with all my pupils, regardless of age, background, or ability.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of learners, from teenagers to older adults, individuals with neurodiversity, and people from all walks of life. I believe that everyone deserves the chance to learn in a calm, respectful, and encouraging environment.

I’m proud to have achieved the RoSPA Gold advanced driving qualification eight times over the past 24 years, this assessment must be retaken every three years to maintain the standard. I also regularly participate in police-led courses, including speed awareness sessions and post-collision confidence training.

In addition to being a driving instructor, I have passed my minibus driving test. I also support my learners with their theory test preparation, offering advice on the best resources and answering any questions they may have along the way.
